This is a great resource - I really recommend it. The work of our charity to support 1:1 devices for pupils, both at home and at school, really pays into this area of thinking.

Hi Spencer
Really like the idea of Class Clips. Have looked at the PSHE sections and there are some good ones on cyber bullying.

When I was working on class projects in my last job, I was looking around for these, but found that for just another £15 or so you could get some better budget models.

The key issue with the Busbi was the vulnerability of the screen, without a cover, and the use of batteries - a chargers would be so much easier for project use.

At the time, we went with the Genius G-Shot DV5131 - with the flip screen, and the far better quality it was worth the extra £10...

As far as I am aware, most typing programmes promote resting both thumbs on the spacebar with the other fingers on the home keys. It doesn't matter which thumb hits the space bar - for most people it tends to be their dominant hand's thumb.

The Activ Inspire software certainly looks good - download the time limited version from Promethean Planet and try it out. Only thing is it crashed twice in five minutes as they were trying to demo it on the styand at BETT - taking a half finished / still in development resource and releasing it to the public . . . remind anyone of anything . . .? The trial version will expire at the end of March and then the proper version will be released after we have submitted all the bugs and fixes that are required.

It allows simultaneous use of two pens and a crisper feel to alot of the tools. AND, praise the Lord, the ability to have multiple flip charts open.

Activ studio, which was always the better version, and activ primary are both replaced with the inspire edition which can have different skins to suit your class / your preferences.

If it works properly when released it will be well worth upgrading.

Hi there - great to see a blog that picks out highlights of BETT - I'm increasingly finding that planning your visit is the only way to cope with the magnitude of the show!

It was interesting to see that the Home Access programme had relatively little prominence on stands - 120 replies in the first day of a survey of schools we work with, showed that only 1/3 know about Home Access and feel confident in what it is!

These are contacts who are running or considering our model to equip all students in a cohort with a device to support their learning 24/7, usually involving funding from our charity. So these are schools ahead in their planning and appreciation for ICT!

Considering that schools can take a lead on Home Access by working with us, aggregating parents' Technology Allowances as part of a scheme that provides the right device for all, this is a little worrying!

If anyone's interested, do get in touch!

Thanks for posting - our charity has a blog too, where we talk about our grants to schools, and ways to work with Home Access... If you're interested see http://www.valeriethompson.wordpress.com Cheers!

You know how things come and go? Well, I mentioned Stylophones in the opening paragraph and guess what? They're back! Do a search on Amazon.co.uk - £13.99 and now with a new sound and MP3 capability! Enjoy.
