Merlin

Welcome to our Merlin page!

Here we intend to keep people up to date with the latest Merlin news and details of our roll out program for primary schools in BaNES.

What is Merlin?

For a good overview of Merlin and what it is click here.

If you want to see what Merlin actually can look like, click here for a sample ‘place’ designed for a shared country study project. It includes a class wiki (Our Class Brazil Book), a blog used as a collaborative writing tool (A Traveller’s Diary), discussions (What do you think?) and picture resources. Please note that the above link gives you read only access. Children and teachers would be able to interact with this site, adding content and comments. Also this is a ‘work in progress’ place so it is only at the initial stages at the moment.

Launch and Training

We’ve been asked to make available the Launch Presentation that we gave at the recent Heads’ briefing available. You can download a copy below (minus the video). We also show our Training Champions how they might use this presentation with staff to explain the need for Merlin in the current technological climate. The PowerPoint has notes for many of the slides to explain the thinking and content behind the visuals.

Merlin Training Launch Presentation (Right click and choose “Save target as…”)

At the initial day’s training, the Merlin Champions will be given a detailed overview of Merlin and shown how to create resouces and ‘places’ that they might want to use in staff – both professionally with colleagues and teaching and learning resources for use with pupils. We also discuss possible next steps and ways to support the in-school training and rollout.

We are also offering support twilight sessions to schools which will focus on key areas. These will be open to anyone whose school has attended the initial training.
